What is Rajasthan’s legendary ‘Golden Triangle’?

The Holy Grail of first-time travellers to India, the ‘Golden Triangle’ embraces three major cities (New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) as well as the iconic and must-visit Taj Mahal and some of the finest monuments and natural wonders in Rajasthan.

With only three to four hours’ driving time between each city, this is the classic AGM India Tours itinerary with your private car and driver Manoj Kumar Sharma for travellers with limited days who want to see the major highlights in a relaxed but time-efficient tour.

Starting in the capital New Delhi, Manoj will drive you in complete comfort and safety to as many attractions as you would like to visit from the grand and imposing India Gate in the heart of Lutyens-designed New Delhi to ancient monuments including Humayun’s Tomb and the Qutb Minar.

Make sure to venture into the maze of streets and alleyways of Old Delhi where Manoj (and optional expert guides) will reveal the secrets of major landmarks like the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and bustling Chandni Chowk.

Second only to Tokyo as the most populous city on the planet, New Delhi is a vast, teeming and very congested metropolis which requires a private car and driver if you are to see the many highlights in just a few days.

We suggest spending at least three days and nights in New Delhi – more if you can spare the time – so you can explore at a leisurely pace with Manoj at the wheel and by your side on sightseeing and shopping excursions.

While Agra has many wonderful attractions, its undoubted jewel in the crown is the legendary Taj Mahal, one of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the greatest testaments to love ever created.

Commissioned in 1631 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as the final resting place for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal (and later his own tomb), this ivory-white marble mausoleum has pride of place on the right bank of the Yamuna River.

While Agra, the Taj Mahal and Red Fort can be enjoyed in an overnight stay, we suggest spending at least two nights in Agra so you can see the Taj Mahal in the first light of dawn and the last rays of sunset when the tourist crowds are not so busy as in the middle of the day.

On the drive from Agra to Jaipur, Manoj can include a visit to the spectacular Fatehpur Sikri, another UNESCO World Heritage site and a 16th-century, impeccably preserved city. Another must-see historic site, Fatehpur Sikri was founded by the Mughal Emperor Akbar and served as the Mughal capital from 1571 to 1585.

Then it’s on to the glorious ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur and its myriad historic attractions from the majestic City Palace to the delicate architecture of the Hawa Mahal, Nahargarh Fort and magnificent Amber Palace before returning to New Delhi by road at the end of your tour with Manoj.

Our tours are merely suggested itineraries in Rajasthan and northern India – AGM India Tours are fully personalised, customised and flexible. We can plan as many days and nights as you like in each city and still only scratch the surface of incredible India. Contact Manoj today and let’s start planning your trip of a lifetime.
